Bombardier Says Remains Engaged With Spirit Aerosystems Under Existing Contracts
By Robb M. Stewart
Canadian aircraft make Bombardier said it remained actively engaged with Spirit Aerosystems as part of its normal business under existing contracts with the troubled fuselage maker that Boeing has agreed to buy in a $4.7 billion deal.
Bombardier said in a brief statement regarding aerostructures produced by Spirit that it expects its supply contracts to be maintained to the highest standards of quality and performance.
Boeing on Monday said it agreed to acquire Spirit, including its defense and aftermarket operations, taking back a company that it had split off two decades ago. Boeing executives have said that they believe taking control of Spirit's operations will improve the safety and quality of its manufacturing. Spirit has been at the center of quality issues affecting 737 MAX jets.
