Daimler Truck, EnBW Launch Joint Venture for Heat Generation
By Helena Smolak
Daimler Truck Holding set up a joint venture with German energy company EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg and the city of Worth am Rhein to explore the potential use of geothermal energy at Mercedes-Benz Group's plant in Worth.
The German truck maker said Friday that the WarmeWerk Worth joint venture, established after a decision by the town council in July, would build and operate a geothermal plant to generate heat at the Worth site if it determines that geothermal energy can be used.
Excess geothermal heat will be used to supply existing municipal heating networks in the city, Daimler Truck said.
The joint venture also aims to explore the region for the development of geothermal energy, establishing the most suitable location for a geothermal well.
