USAA Donates $1 Million to Support Recovery in Aftermath of Hurricane Helene
Aid provided to three nonprofits to help families and communities impacted
USAA has announced a donation of $1 million to three nonprofit organizations supporting communities and families recover from the impacts of Hurricane Helene. The storm, which made landfall in Florida’s Gulf Coast region, continues to impact states in the southeast.
“Hurricane Helene has impacted millions of our USAA members and continues to cause devastation across the southeast United States,” said Wayne Peacock, president and CEO at USAA. “USAA was prepared to assist before the storm hit and is now actively assisting our members and communities on the road to recovery.”
Three national nonprofits will receive grants to assist in recovery efforts, including American Red Cross, Team Rubicon and Feeding America. Their efforts will support families with recovery, including route clearance, meals and temporary shelter.
In 2023, USAA and The USAA Foundation, Inc. committed approximately $46 million in philanthropic contributions. USAA employees extended that impact through their personal giving and volunteering. In total, USAA employees logged more than 267,000 volunteer hours and contributed more than $7 million to nonprofits (a total of $13 million with USAA matching). Most recently, USAA employees raised nearly $600,000 through USAA’s annual Bowlathon event, with donations going to Onward Ops, Overwatch Project and K9s for Warriors as part of Face the Fight’s efforts to reduce veteran suicide.
