After pausing tour due to cancer, Heart rocker Ann Wilson lists Florida home for $2 million

By Lisa Johnson Mandell

Wilson surprised her friends when she left Seattle 5 years ago

Maybe legendary rocker Ann Wilson left her heart in Seattle after all. After a much-talked-about move from her longtime home in Washington to Florida in 2019, Wilson has now listed her waterfront estate in the Sunshine State for $2 million.

The move comes nearly three months after the 74-year-old revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer, sharing a heartfelt statement on Instagram in which she explained that she was being forced to pause her tour and take "the rest of the year away from the stage."

She added that, while she'd had a "successful" surgery, her doctors had advised her to undergo a course of "preventative chemotherapy," but that she had hopes of returning to her tour in 2025.

The rock 'n' roll icon, who spent the majority of her life and career in Seattle, caught many of her friends by surprise when she sold her Capitol Hill mansion-a famed grunge-era party house she'd lived in for decades-and moved to the opposite corner of the country.

She later admitted that the move had not been easy for many reasons, not least because of the states' different political leanings. (Seattle is historically blue, and Florida is typically red.)

"It's been a huge adjustment, to be honest," she told the Seattle Times after the move.

"I love the weather down here," she said of the Sunshine State. "I miss the turning of the seasons, but I really don't miss the nine months of constant drizzle and dreariness that is Seattle weather. I'm really glad to wake up every day and be able to see the sky."

The luxurious waterfront estate includes 510 feet of frontage on St. John's River in Palatka. Wilson needn't worry about running into the barracuda she's maligned in song. It's a saltwater fish-and wouldn't be found in the freshwater river.

The property dates to 1900, when one of the homes on the 12.48-acre lot was built. That structure has since been turned into a 2,406-square-foot guest house. The main house measures 4,084 square feet and has three bedrooms and 2. 5 bathrooms.

Unique features in the main house include stained-glass windows, an elevator, covered verandas and balconies, and built-in shelving and cabinetry.

The outdoor amenities include an infinity pool with a spa; it's fully screened to keep critters large and small out. There's also an RV port, a 1,159-square-foot workshop, and a private dock on the river.

Lush vegetation is typical in this part of the state, and century-old oaks and magnolia trees grace the property.

Wilson, 74, has been the lead singer for the seminal rock band Heart, which also features her sister, Nancy Wilson, since the early 1970s.

It was one of the first hard rock bands fronted by women. Known for singles including "Dreamboat Annie," "Magic Man," "Crazy on You," and "Barracuda," Heart has sold over 35 million records worldwide and has scored top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2010s.
