Perrigo Co. PLC (PRGO) said Friday it's voluntarily recalling 16,500 cans of store-brand Premium Infant Formula with iron milk-based powder because of an amount of vitamin D that exceeded permitted levels.

The stock fell 2% in premarket trade.

The Dublin-based provider of self-care and over-the-counter health and wellness products said the cans were shipped to regional supermarket chain H-E-B Grocery Co. LP in Texas, and to CVS Health (CVS) stores in Texas, Florida, California, South Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Missouri.

"No other products or retailers are impacted by this recall," the company said in a statement.

For most infants, short-term consumption of the affected formula is unlikely to cause harm. But in a small subset of infants, such as those with impaired renal function, there is "the potential that consumption of the recalled product could result in health complications," the statement said.

The company is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to conduct the recall.

"There have been no reports of adverse events to date attributed to the elevated levels of vitamin D in the product subject to this recall, which was determined through routine testing," it said.

Parents and caregivers who may have purchased the formula should check the lot codes with "use by" dates on the bottom of the package. The product shipped to CVS started on Feb. 6 and is marked T11LMYC-USE BY 11NOV2025.

The product shipped to H.E.B. Grocery starting Feb. 2 and is marked T11LMXC-USE BY 11NOV2025 and T09LMXC-USE BY 09NOV2025.

Perrigo has set up a special phone line at 1-800-538-9543 that is available Mon. to Fri. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

The stock has fallen 13% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 has gained 11.5%.
