Trending: GM Cutting More Than 1,000 Workers From Software Business

14:46 ET -- General Motors is one of the most mentioned companies in the U.S. across all news items in the past 12 hours, according to Factiva data. GM is cutting more than a thousand employees globally in its software and services division, including roughly 600 based around its Detroit-area headquarters, a person familiar with the matter said. The cuts follow a review of the division by its co-leaders. GM has hired thousands of salaried workers in software and other technology areas in recent years. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva.
