Stock gainers:
Shares of Hyatt Hotels Corp. (H) rallied 7.6% Tuesday after the company said the stock was set to join the S&P MidCap 400 index MID on Thursday.
Shares of Unity Software Inc. (U) rose 3% after the game-engine and app-monetization company announced Chairman and Chief Executive John Riccitiello was leaving the company, less than a month after a botched game-developer fee rollout.
PepsiCo Inc.'s stock (PEP) rose 2% after the beverage and snack giant reported third-quarter earnings that topped consensus and raised its full-year guidance, after it again raised prices.
Coherent Corp.'s stock (COHR) rose 10% after he materials, networking and lasers company said it has concluded a review of its silicon carbide business and will receive $1 billion in investments from Denso Corp. (JP:6902) and Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (JP:6503)
Truist Financial Corp.'s stock (TFC) rose 6.5% to lead S&P 500 gainers following a report that it may sell its insurance-brokerage business for $10 billion.
Adobe Inc.'s stock (ADBE) was up 1.1%, after it rolled out new features of its Firefly AI Tuesday and is so confident its model protects copyrighted material that it is offering to pay legal bills of users sued for infringement.
Amazon.com Inc.'s stock (AMZN) was up 1.8% as the ecommerce giant sought to tempt shoppers with a second 2023 Prime Day event this week -- dubbed "Prime Big Deal Days" -- running Oct. 10-11.
Stock decliners:
Shares of PagerDuty Inc. (PD) declined 1.5% after the IT services software company said it was issuing new notes to cover the purchase of old ones.
Akero Therapeutics Inc.'s stock (AKRO) slid 67%, after after the company released mixed results from a trial of its lead product candidate, a treatment for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, a form of fatty liver disease.
John Wiley & Sons Inc.'s stock (WLY) tumbled 8% after it announced the exit of its CEO and canceled an investor day.
L3Harris Technologies Inc.'s stock (LHX) fell 1.6% to lead S&P 500 decliners in a pullback from strong gains enjoyed Monday after latest hostilities broke out in Israel.
ParaZero Technologies' (PRZO) stock fell 21% following a 133% gain on Monday when its drone-making partner gained approval in Australia to fly its drones over populated areas.
