U.S. Futures Flat, European Stocks Down Slightly

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 dropped 0.1% in morning trading. Syensqo rose 5.6% and HelloFresh added 2.9%. On the other hand, Stellantis lost 8.3%, and Rightmove sunk 3.7%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 decreased 0.5% and Germany's DAX fell 0.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 95.29.

In commodities, Brent crude gained 1.1% to $72.32 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 1% to $68.84 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 1.6% to 39.22 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 1 basis point to 2.13% from 2.135%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 1 basis point to 3.765% from 3.754%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined 4.8%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng climbed 3.1%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 8.1%.
