Italy Plans 65 Billion Euros in Gross Bond Issuance in Fourth Quarter
By Emese Bartha
The Italian Treasury plans gross medium- and long-term bond issuance in the area of 65 billion euros ($72.67 billion) in the fourth quarter, it said in a funding update on Wednesday.
Given the redemptions, this implies an expected net issuance volume of around minus 10 billion euros for the same period, it said.
The quarterly gross issuance volume takes into consideration the current cash balance and the already announced issues settling by Sept. 30, totaling 33 billion euros, it said.
The treasury has issued a total nominal amount of 252 billion euros in medium- and long-term bonds in the first eight months of the year, it said.
As at the end of August, the funding progress for the year stood at more than 72%, and this is expected to rise to 81% in September, it said.
