Materials Up as Gold Hits Record — Materials Roundup

Producers of metals and other raw materials rose as gold futures closed at an all-time highs.

The U.S. dollar ticked up against rivals but remained close to multiyear lows against rival currencies, giving a boost to the precious metal.

Gold futures closed at $2517.70 an ounce, the highest level on record, in New York. Shares of Gold Fields slipped after the South African gold miner cut its full-year production target for a second time due to operational issues.
