China Mulls Allowing Local Governments to Issue Bonds to Buy Homes, Bloomberg Reports
--China is considering allowing local governments to buy unsold homes with the proceeds raised from issuing special bonds, which are currently restricted to funding infrastructure and environment projects, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter.
--China's local governments have already used more than half of this year's CNY3.9 trillion quota assigned for special bond issuances, and it's unclear what will be used for housing purchases if the proposal is approved, Bloomberg says.
