General Dynamics Electric Boat Gets $1.3 Billion U.S. DoD Contract Modification

General Dynamics said its Electric Boat unit was awarded a $1.3 billion contract modification by the U.S. Department of Defense allowing the company to purchase long lead time materials for Virginia Class Block VI nuclear submarines.
The global aerospace and defense company Monday said the contract awarded to the designer and manufacturer of nuclear submarines for the U.S. Navy enables its suppliers to invest in the capacity and materials needed to increase production volume.
