Google Partners With BlackRock's Taiwanese Business to Boost Solar Energy Capacity

Alphabet's Google said it has partnered with a BlackRock-backed business in Taiwan to develop a 1-gigawatt pipeline of new solar capacity.
The U.S. tech company on Monday said it is investing in New Green Power, a Taiwanese solar developer and BlackRock portfolio company, to support the development of its large-scale solar pipeline.
Google didn't disclose financial details.
The deal is part of Google's target to reach net-zero emissions across all operations and value chain by 2030.
"We expect to procure up to 300 megawatts of solar energy from this pipeline through power purchase agreements the associated energy attribute certificates to help meet electricity demand from our data center campus, cloud region and office operations in Taiwan," it said.
Google also said it may offer a portion of the energy capacity to its semiconductor suppliers and manufacturers in the region.
