Three Local Veterinarians Open Mosaic Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital, An Ultramodern 24/7 Pet Care Facility in Northern New Mexico

Between the effects of COVID-19 and a surge of consolidation in which corporations bought nearly every veterinary practice in the region, by 2024 only one 24/7 emergency veterinary practice remained to serve the entire state of New Mexico. To address this critical shortage in care, seasoned, local veterinarians Julia Donnelly, DVM, cVMA, Nicole Chamney, DOM, DVM, MBA, and Sonja Sims, DVM, cVMA, joined forces to open Mosaic Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital in Santa Fe.

The exceptional trio of veterinarians acquired a 16,000-square-foot building at 2001 Vivigen Way, and have transformed it into a contemporary 24/7 pet emergency and specialty hospital equipped with lifesaving technology and supplies needed for managing all types of pet emergencies. This includes an intensive care unit (ICU), isolation wards, diagnostic imaging, lab and pharmacy, overnight and multi-day hospitalization capacity, a patient kitchen to accommodate special diets, unique calming CASCO enclosures rather than traditional metal kennels, and much more. The team of meticulously trained and compassionate emergency veterinarians, veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and client experience representatives stand at the ready around the clock to help ill and injured dogs and cats. No appointment is ever needed for emergency care.

“We have worked quickly and methodically over the past few months to build a much-needed, and very special place where pets can get emergency or specialty care when they need it, our referring community of primary care veterinarians has a trusted resource to support their work, and team members can thrive in an environment where they feel valued,” said Julia Donnelly, MS, DVM, cVMA. “Alongside my partners, Dr. Chamney and Dr. Sims, it has been a privilege to create Mosaic Animal, and we look forward to it being an integral part of our community for years to come.”

Pet owners may call Mosaic Animal at 505-416-5840 any time, night or day if they need help assessing if their dog or cat needs immediate care, or if it is safe to wait until their primary care veterinarian is available.
