Analyst Note

On July 11, 2024, Dodge & Cox announced that Mario DiPrisco, a member of the firm's international-equity and emerging-markets equity committees, will leave at the end of 2024 "to pursue other opportunities outside of asset management." The move is a surprise, but it won’t likely hinder those respective committees’ operations in running Dodge & Cox International Stock or Dodge & Cox Emerging Markets Stock. Granted, the firm is losing a veteran contributor in DiPrisco, who joined the San Francisco-based asset manager as a research associate in 1998 and rose through the ranks. Yet, fundholders shouldn't fret. DiPrisco is giving some advance public notice (though not the 12-18 months that many others at Dodge & Cox have given) and the committees have other hands available to manage the strategies effectively. (The international-equity committee has five other members besides DiPrisco, while the emerging-markets equity committee has four.) Dodge & Cox isn't expected to announce an immediate replacement for DiPrisco on either committee, though each January it typically provides such updates, so investors should keep an eye on early 2025 for more news.
