AEP Earnings: Incoming CEO a Strong Outside Pick With Significant Utility Experience

We are reaffirming our $90 per share fair value estimate after American Electric Power reported second-quarter operating earnings of $1.25 per share, compared with $1.13 in the prior-year period. AEP reaffirmed its 2024 per share earnings guidance range of $5.53-$5.73, in line with our expectations. Management reaffirmed AEP's 6%-7% guidance through 2028, which we view as achievable.
