Nordic Shares Close Up Tuesday; Zealand Pharma Climbs Highest
Stocks in the Nordic region rose Tuesday, with the OMX Nordic 40 Index rising 0.5%.
Zealand Pharma A/S was the biggest leader among large stocks during the session, rising 9.5%, and Novo Nordisk A/S increased 4.0%. Siminn hf. rounded out the top three leaders on Tuesday, with shares increasing 3.3%.
Electrolux AB Series B posted the largest decline, declining 5.9%, followed by Husqvarna AB Series A shares, which declined 5.5%. Shares of Granges AB declined 5.5%.
In Denmark, the OMX Copenhagen 20 Index increased 2.7%, while the OMX Helsinki 25 Index, which tracks Finland's most-traded stocks, fell 0.7%.
Stocks on Sweden's OMX Stockholm 30 Index declined 1.3%, while Norway's Oslo Exchange Benchmark Index_GI fell 0.5%. Shares in Iceland decreased, with the OMX Iceland All-Share PI Equity Index falling 0.9%.
Elsewhere in Europe, indexes fell, with the STOXX Europe 600 Index dropping 0.2% and the FTSE 100 Index dropping 0.4% from the previous close.
In commodities news, Brent crude oil futures were down 0.7%, and gold futures were down 0.4%. Bitcoin was up 4.3% to $61,744.
On the currency front, the WSJ Dollar Index increased 0.2% to 100.31.
Against the euro, the U.S. dollar was up 0.3%, the Danish krone was flat, the Icelandic krona was flat, the Swedish krona was down 0.1%, and the Norwegian krone was down 0.4%.
