Urban Outfitters Earnings: Expectations Surpassed but Some Weakness in Current Sales Trends

No-moat Urban Outfitters’ sales and profitability eclipsed our forecast in fiscal 2025’s second quarter as most of its segments (except its namesake chain, again) achieved solid full-price sell-through. However, shares dropped by a high-single-digit percentage in Aug. 21 post-market trading as it acknowledged that sales momentum has recently slowed, leaving it with excess inventory. Even so, the near-term outlook is not much different than anticipated, and our long-term outlook is not significantly changed. Thus, we do not expect to make any material revision to our $43.50 fair value estimate, leaving shares a bit undervalued.
