Train singer Pat Monahan lists lakeside mansion in Washington for $8.2 million

By Jennifer Kelly Geddes

The property is just outside Seattle

Pat Monahan, lead singer for pop rock band Train, is selling his beautiful lakefront home in Issaquah, Wash., for $8,198,000.

Nestled in the trees behind pretty landscaping, the five-bedroom mansion offers 5,380 square feet and spectacular views of Lake Sammamish from many of the rooms, decks, and patio.

Located directly on the lake's shore, about 15 miles east of Seattle, the home was built in 2006. Its design blends natural materials, such as fir-wrapped beams and stone, with its gorgeous natural surroundings. Big windows fill the main living areas with water views and lead to a heated, covered deck.

The main kitchen is well equipped with attractive wood cabinetry, a large island, and a breakfast nook with a banquette. There's also a second kitchen on the lower level, along with a wine cellar. Multiple fireplaces warm the home, including ones in the great room, primary suite, and main bathroom.

Outside, a hot tub awaits, along with more living space, a fireplace, barbecue station, and a fire pit near the water. A sandy beach is easy on the toes when taking a dip, and boat lovers can moor their watercraft at the private dock.

An elevator, which reaches all three levels, and a three-car garage completes this idyllic package. Records indicate the home sold to the singer in 2011 for $2.95 million.

Train hails from San Francisco and formed as a band in 1993. With Monahan on vocals, the group has been nominated for eight Grammys and won three times. Among their many hits are "Hey, Soul Sister," "Calling All Angels," and "Meet Virginia."

The band experienced a tragedy earlier this year when founding member and bassist, Charlie Colin, died after a fall at age 58.

Following Colin's death, Monahan shared a touching tribute to his bandmate on social media, praising his "sweet" personality and "handsome" looks.

"When I met Charlie Colin, front left, I fell in love with him," the singer wrote. "He was THE sweetest guy and what a handsome chap."

He went on to recall how the pair quickly decided to start a band together, joking that it was "the only reasonable thing to do."

"I'll always have a warm place for him in my heart," he continued. "I always tried to pull him closer, but he had a vision of his own. You're a legend, Charlie. Go charm the pants off those angels."
