Dick's Sporting Goods discloses cyberattack but says it's not expected to have material impact

By Ciara Linnane

Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. (DKS) said Wednesday it has been the victim of a cyberattack, but it does not believe it has disrupted business operations.

"On Aug. 21, 2024, the company discovered unauthorized third-party access to its information systems, including portions of its systems containing certain confidential information," the company said in a regulatory filing.

It immediately implemented its cybersecurity response plan and engaged with experts to investigate, isolate and contain the threat. The sporting goods retailer also notified law enforcement.

For now, the company is not expecting the impact to be material, but it will continue to monitor the situation and update investors as needed, said the filing.

Dick's is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings on Sept. 4.

The stock is slightly lower, but is up 60.5% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 SPX has gained 18%.
