Palo Alto Networks Plans to Buy Embrace in Observability Push

By Elias Schisgall

Palo Alto Networks plans to acquire Embrace, a provider of user-focused observability services, in a push to build out its observability platform.

Embrace has "Real User Monitoring" capabilities that will give customers better insights into their applications, Palo Alto said. The cybersecurity company didn't disclose financial terms of the deal, but said it was expected to close in the company's first fiscal quarter, which runs through October.

Embrace is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Palo Alto. The cybersecurity company in November bought Chronosphere, an observability platform, for $3.35 billion, and bought CyberArk in a $25 billion deal last year.

The company said it is looking to continue innovating across its observability offerings following the Chronosphere acquisition. It said Tuesday that it was also launching a new application performance validation capability called Synthetics.

"To truly understand how their applications are performing, organizations need to see the whole picture--from the moment a user taps or clicks to what exactly happens on the backend," Chief Product & Technology Officer Lee Klarich said. "By combining Palo Alto Networks' leading Observability platform with Embrace's innovative Real User Monitoring and the organically developed Synthetic Monitoring capabilities, we'll deliver exactly that."
