U.S. Futures Fall, European Stocks Rise

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.2% in morning trading. Moncler rose 11.8% and Evotec added 5%. On the other hand, Swissquote Group Holding dropped 3.5%, and Sweco Series B dropped 3%. The FTSE 100 added 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 gained 0.4% and Germany's DAX rose 0.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 95.59.

In commodities, Brent crude was flat at $71.10 a barrel, and WTI crude was flat at $67.70 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 1.6% to 37.3 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 6 basis points to 2.128% from 2.184%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 2 basis points to 3.775% from 3.8%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were up as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 2.3%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 3.1%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 2.9%.
