Mitsubishi to Expand Investment in Petronas LNG Plant

By Ying Xian Wong

Mitsubishi Corp. will expand its investment in the Malaysian liquefied-natural-gas plant operated by the country's state-owned oil company, Petroliam Nasional.

The Japanese conglomerate signed an agreement with Petronas to extend its 10% interest in Malaysia LNG Dua over the next decade and reinvest in Malaysia LNG Tiga with a 10% stake, the companies said Friday.

Malaysia LNG Dua and Tiga are part of the Petronas LNG complex, one of Japan's main LNG suppliers, with a total annual production capacity of 29.3 million metric tons.
