SAP Is Under Civil Investigation From Justice Department

By Mauro Orru

SAP said it was under a civil investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice but wasn't aware of any criminal probe in relation to Carahsoft Technology after Bloomberg reported that officials were investigating SAP, Carahsoft and other companies over potential price fixing.

The German business-software group, Carahsoft and other companies may have overcharged U.S. government agencies for purchases valued at more than $2 billion since 2014, according to the Bloomberg report that cited federal court records filed in Baltimore. Justice Department lawyers have since at least 2022 been looking into potential price fixing on sales to the U.S. military and other parts of the government, the report said.

"We are not aware of any criminal investigation that SAP is involved in relating to Carahsoft," an SAP spokesman said. "All we can say is that there has been a civil investigation by the DOJ, and SAP has been cooperating with the investigation since the beginning."

Carahsoft didn't respond to a request for comment. SAP shares were down 2.5% at 201.65 euros in European afternoon trading.

"At this stage, we have no information on what has led to the latest events concerning Carahsoft," the SAP spokesman added.
