Moderna Gets Canada Approval for Updated Covid-19 Vaccine
By Sabela Ojea
Moderna said that the Canadian government has approved its updated Covid-19 Spikevax for individuals aged six months and older.
The biotechnology company on Tuesday said that Health Canada authorized the vaccine targeting the KP.2 Covid-19 variant of Sars-Cov-2.
Moderna will begin delivery of updated doses to the Public Health Agency of Canada, ensuring supply is available in time for provincial and territorial vaccination campaigns, the company said.
The authorization comes shortly after the company said that it's reducing its dependence on Covid-19 vaccines. Moderna is cutting $1.1 billion in annual research and development expenses, the company said last week.
