Introducing Texas OG: Texas Original Debuts Proprietary Medical Cannabis Strain
Texas’ leading medical cannabis provider leverages years of cultivation expertise to breed its own THC-dominant indica strain
Texas Original, Texas’ leading medical cannabis provider, introduced its newest proprietary medical cannabis strain: Texas OG. Bred exclusively for Texas Original products, Texas OG was meticulously cultivated with Texas patients in mind by the company’s in-house team of horticulturists.
“Texas OG was born after analyzing the genetics and phenotypic profiles of multiple strains,” said Jason Sanders, director of cultivation for Texas Original. “Our team carefully identified the plant qualities we need to produce the optimal THC level and a rich terpene profile to yield high-impact extracts for our patients’ medicine.”
Texas Original employs a team of cannabis cultivators unique in Texas for their expertise in medical cannabis breeding and cultivation. A THC-dominant indica strain, Texas OG originates from strains known for their strong yields and medical benefits, including an OG strain. Texas OG’s dominant terpenes are alpha-pinene—which may reduce anxiety or increase focus—and beta-myrcene—which may induce a calming effect and is known to have antioxidant, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
“Our patients expect consistency and efficacy from our products, and that starts with every seed planted at our facility. We’re proud to produce an authentically Texas-grown medical cannabis strain curated to help Texans alleviate debilitating symptoms and live healthier lives,” Sanders added.
Texas Original’s Rick Simpson Oil (RSO)—a full-spectrum extract that includes all the cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, proteins and other beneficial compounds of the cannabis plant—is now wholly derived from Texas OG. The company’s RSO-infused products include its Pineapple Gummies, Dark Chocolate Bites and 0:1 Tincture.
“Our new Texas OG strain is a direct extension of our commitment to providing Texans access to the highest-quality medicine,” said Nico Richardson, CEO of Texas Original. “We’re excited to offer the strain’s unique terpene and cannabinoid profile in our RSO product line.”
Texas Original also announced the release of a limited-time 30 mg gummy flavor: Sour Apple. Texas Original released its Blueberry Lemonade gummy—the state’s first 30 mg medical cannabis gummy—in December 2023. Optimized for patients prescribed higher doses, the 30 mg gummy will be available in both Sour Apple and Blueberry Lemonade.
