Boeing: Machinists Union Strike Unavoidable and Unfortunate; Fair Value Estimate Down 1%

Members of Boeing's machinists union voted by an overwhelming margin on Sept. 12 to reject the four-year contract proposed on Sept. 8 and to strike. Boeing's relations with the machinists union have been contentious for many decades, and the strike fits a historical pattern. We assume it will last practically until the end of 2024, through the holidays in November and December.
