Wilshire 4500

An index consisting of all the stocks in the Wilshire 5000 Index minus the 500 stocks in the S&P 500 Index. Like the Wilshire 5000, it measures the combined market value of these stocks and is used as a benchmark for small- and mid-cap stocks.
