Orsted Board Recommends Lene Skole as New Chair, Andrew Brown as New Deputy Chair
By Dominic Chopping
Orsted on Monday proposed the appointment of Lene Skole as the new chair and Andrew Brown as deputy chair of the board.
The Danish renewable-energy company earlier this month launched a comprehensive new plan with cost cuts, a pause in dividends, asset sales and new business priorities following a year beset by troubles in the U.S. offshore wind market.
In conjunction with the new plan, current Chair Thomas Thune Andersen said he wouldn't seek re-election at the upcoming annual general meeting, deciding to step down after 10 years in the role to allow a new chair to take the plan forward.
Lene Skole has served as deputy chair of Orsted since 2015 and is currently chief executive of The Lundbeck Foundation.
"Orsted's recently announced business plan towards 2030 was developed in collaboration between the group executive team and the board of directors, and Lene Skole is therefore fully committed to the implementation of the plan," Orsted said.
Andrew Brown has spent his entire career within the energy industry and was most recently chief executive of Portuguese energy company Galp. He joined the Orsted board in 2023 and is currently also acting as interim chief operating officer, a role he will step down from in late March 2024.
